You Can ReWrite Your Money Story

You can rewrite your money story - blog post

The beliefs we hold about money become our money story. But you can rewrite your money so that it supports your dreams and goals for living an abundant life.

Here are three perspectives to inspire you so you can rewrite your money story:

  1. The Enlightened Entrepreneur’s Perspective

This is the money story that says there are plenty of resources in the world to provide for everyone’s needs. That every human being is naturally creative, resourceful and whole, and has the wherewithal to create their own version of prosperity.

My favorite explanation of this perspective comes from Lynne Twist’s book, The Soul of Money: Reclaiming the Wealth of Our Inner Resource. In it, she shares her experience as an enlightened fund-raiser, working for global causes, and her perspective of money as a form of energy. As Marianne Williamson accurately puts it, “…[she] has a remarkable ability to cast a spiritual light on the subject of money.” From this perspective, every person, no matter what circumstance they find themselves in, has the ability to draw on their inner resources to create enough-ness in their own life.

  1. Universal Law of Attraction Perspective

This is the money story that says the inner world of your thoughts and beliefs create your reality; what you focus on is what you attract into your life. This is best explained in Wallace D. Wattles’ book, The Science of Getting Rich. Perhaps the premise of his book can best be summed up in this paragraph:

“Nature is an inexhaustible storehouse of riches; the supply will never run short. Original Substance is alive with creative energy and is constantly producing more forms. When the supply of building material is exhausted, more will be produced; when the soil is exhausted so that foodstuffs and materials for clothing will no longer grow upon it, it will be renewed or more soil will be made. When all the gold and silver have been dug from the earth, if man is still in such a stage of social development that he needs gold and silver, more will be produced from the Formless. The Formless Stuff responds to the needs of man; it will not let him be without any good thing.

This is true of man collectively; the race as a whole is always abundantly rich, and if individuals are poor, it is because they do not follow the Certain Way of doing things which makes the individual man rich.”

The Science of Getting Rich is just one of many texts available in the wealth consciousness genre.

  1. The Biblical Prosperity Perspective

The scriptures show consistently throughout the Old and New Testament that God wants you to be rich. One only needs to do a word study on the topic of prosperity to confirm God’s determination to bless His children and make us whole and complete, lacking nothing, including financial wealth.

Bible verses pertaining to prosperity include:

  • “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2.
  • “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22
  • “Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee the power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18
  • “And the Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in every work of your hand.” Deuteronomy 30:9 (AMP)

Do any of the above perspectives resonate so you can rewrite your money story?
