The Supernatural Power in Words

A constant thread in my Christian walk is God showing me the supernatural power in words. It started way back when I was living in a difficult situation with no apparent way out. Father God introduced me to the supernatural power of words through Charles Capps’ book, The Tongue: A Creative Force. I got so excited when I read that message; it changed my life forever.
Capps’ book showed me that God has made supernatural power available to us through words.
Recently, I’ve been reading Barry Bennett’s Book, You Have the Advantage: Walking in the Revelation of Blessing, Favor, and Strength.
Here are a couple of powerful passages that further explain the power we have available to us:
“Many Christians seem to never grasp that they are citizens of the Kingdom of God. They don’t learn the language of God. They don’t learn the spiritual laws and principles that govern the Kingdom. Many simply continue to live their born-again life with the language, culture, and customs of the power of darkness.
Is there an advantage in understanding the Kingdom of God? Absolutely! But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you( Matthew 6:33).” (Page 23)
“The language of the kingdom is the language of love, faith, hope, and blessing. The born-again believer can declare the words of God and know that the invisible world of the Spirit springs into action on their behalf.” (Page 30)
As Christians, we need to speak life into the issues we’re dealing with because, as Barry Bennett says, “nothing happens until something is said.” If you’re not getting answers to your prayers, this is an extremely important point to consider.
The Word of God shows us the supernatural power in words
“You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways” (Job 22:28).
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21).
Romans 4:17 says, “God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (NKJV).
Romans 4:17 in the EASY Bible version makes it ultra clear: [God] speaks about things that are not yet there as if they were already there.
We live in a world created by WORDS.
When there was darkness, God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (Genesis 1:3).
In the first chapter of Genesis, you’ll find “God said…” ten times. Then, at the end of the first chapter, it says, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”
God said words, then God saw what those words created.
God SAID, then God SAW.
We are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26), so we can use our words to create our worlds, too.
In 2017, I heard a prophetic sermon from Pastor Bill Winston at the Southwest Believers Convention in Fort Worth, TX. He said, “When you’re strong in faith, you’ll have what you want to happen.”
Whoa! That blew my mind.
Pastor Winston went on to make the following points:
- When you’re strong in faith, you’ll have it the way you want it.
- You can’t get your promises, except by faith.
- God does nothing apart from faith.
- The anointing is also involved. But faith is key for that anointing to function.
- The anointing flows by faith.
We can speak into existence that which we would like to see manifested as long as it lines up with the will of God. And by the way, healing, provision, prosperity, joy, peace, restoration, guidance, and divine protection are the will of God.
Instead of waiting passively for the promises of God to come to pass and wondering why nothing is happening, we are called to take a more active role.
We are called to open our mouths and, by faith, create results because that’s what God did, and we were made in the image of God.
What have you been praying for?
What words do you speak over your situation?
Are they words of faith, filled with His anointing? Or, are they words of worry, doubt, and unbelief?
God made us to be more than conquerors in all these things (Romans 8:37).
But perhaps you need to pick up your sword (the Word of God), and put it in your mouth. You can’t wield the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) until you put it in your mouth (i.e., speak God’s Word over your situation by faith, believing in the power of God’s promises).

Hi Gail!
Those two booklets are some of my faves, too. In fact, I’ve given out copies to many of my family and friends. Good stuff!
