What I Learned About the Praise Cure

This week, I’m excited to share what I learned about The Praise Cure because I needed healing, I applied The Praise Cure, and it worked!
You see, yesterday, I woke up not feeling well. I had zero energy and felt run down. By the afternoon, my body ached, and I had a terrible headache. By dinner time, I felt a fever coming on. I had no appetite, so I skipped dinner and went to bed at 6:30 pm.
During this entire time, I kept praising God. I praised Him for my healing.
It went something like this:
“Praise God! Praise God! Praise God! Father, thank you for healing my body. Thank you for the Blood of Jesus. Thank you for your will for me, which is healing. Thank you that ‘with His stripes, I was healed!’ Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!”
I just kept praising Him over and over until I fell asleep.

What Happens When You Apply The Praise Cure?
I slept soundly for ten and a half hours. I woke up at 5:00 am the next morning, feeling fantastic! Lots of energy. No trace of symptoms whatsoever! Glory to God!!!
Where Did The Praise Cure Come From?
I first learned about The Praise Cure from the book Dr. Lillian B. Yeomans’ Healing School: Classic Teachings & Works of Unpublished Since the 1930s. (affiliate link)
If you haven’t heard of Dr. Lillian B. Yeomans, she was a successful Canadian physician who became hopelessly addicted to morphine and nearly died. Out of desperation, she turned to God and was remarkably healed. She then gave up her medical practice and went on to become a leading healing minister in the 1920-30s, traveling all over the United States and Canada.

She is best known for a “faith home” where those with incurable diseases received teaching and prayer until they were miraculously healed.
I call it the praise cure because it is most readily applied by simply singing yourself into it: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalm 100: 4). You know you can sing yourself and shout yourself into and through things that you can’t get into or through in any other way.”
—Dr. Lillian B. Yeomans
In Dr. Yeomans’ book, I read an endorsement from my new favorite preacher, Nancy Dufresne:
“In 1985, I was curled up on my couch reading a sermon by Dr. Lillian B Yeomans on the subject of divine healing. I remember it well. I often read her sermons, but that day I had a particular interest in her teachings because I had been experiencing some lingering physical symptoms. But on that day, just while reading her sermons, I tangibly felt the power of God strike that part of my body, and instantly, every symptom left! The revelation her sermons held imparted a spirit of faith into me, and the power of God met that faith.”
Curious, I immediately searched Pastor Nancy’s YouTube videos (I had already been binge-watching them for several months.) Sure enough, I found her sermon on The Praise Cure.

When I started reading Dr. Lillian B Yeomans’ book, I sensed the depth of passionate faith from which it was written. The way she explains how the LORD ministered to her in her affliction makes the scriptures come alive, movingly, and profoundly.
“Yes, the praise cure works every time. It is not unpleasant; rather it is delightful; the cost of it has been met for us by another, and it is available this moment to each of us. Are you ready to begin it? The last clause of 1 Peter 1: 8 tells us exactly how to begin: ‘Believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.’
Just believe what God says that Jesus has done for you, body, soul, and spirit—think about it, talk about it, sing about it, shout about it, and the praise cure has begun. You are not to take it once a year but all the time.
I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth’ (Psalm 34: 1). The Psalms—the book of praise inspired by the Holy Spirit, which has been used by the people of God in all ages and which Jesus Himself used—are full of this praise cure. Just observe the first verses of Psalm 103: “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Are you ready to apply The Praise Cure to your own life? Here’s what I recommend:
Step 1 – Watch Pastor Nancy’s sermon (links to her YouTube videos above)
Step 2 – Start praising God even if you don’t feel like it. Even if your situation looks hopeless and you feel depressed. Just open your mouth and say, “Praise God. Praise God. Praise God” Do it over and over, all day long.
Step 3 – Expect that things might get worse before they get better because you know the devil is going to try to stop you. He wants you to be so discouraged that you’ll stop praising God, but don’t!
Step 4 – Laugh in the devil’s face, knowing you already have the victory. You’re simply walking it out by faith.
Step 5 – Keep praising God until you get your victory. Then praise Him some more!
CONCLUSION
God’s Word says that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6) You may not have known before that you will triumph over your situation by simply praising God when you need a breakthrough. But now you do. So, don’t just be a hearer of the Word. Be a doer of the Word and start praising God in your challenges, STARTING NOW!
Stay strong in the Lord and stand on His Word!
Remember this: the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
