20 Journal Questions for Christians Struggling with Anxiety

If you struggle with feelings of anxiousness, you’ll appreciate today’s blog. I’m sharing 20 journal questions for Christians struggling with anxiety. I know from first-hand experience how overwhelming it can be when anxious thoughts take over your mind. Thankfully, as believers, we have a dependable source of comfort and strength—our faith in God.
“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
Psalm 56:3 NKJV
Several decades ago, I struggled with anxiety so debilitating that I started having panic attacks. After searching for solutions in the natural realm to no avail, I turned to God, and the power of His love pulled me out of that dark place and allowed me to find freedom.

Then, the Lord led me on a healing journey, during which I discovered the power of life coaching and personal transformation tools, such as journal writing.
Journaling can be a powerful tool for grounding ourselves in the present moment so we can Be Still before God; it allows us to slow down and find peace in His presence. As a trauma-informed Christian Life Coach, I’ve witnessed how healing journaling can be for myself and others.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Understanding Anxiety Through Faith
I have since learned that anxiety stems from worry, dread, and uncertainty, which are all rooted in fear. But the Bible assures us that God is always with us. In Isaiah 41:10, God says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Recently, I learned from a teaching by Pastor George Pearsons that worrying for a Christian is a sin. God did not design us to carry worry. Instead, when worry comes to our minds, we are to cast our cares on Him:
Therefore humble yourselves…under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
1 Peter 5:6-7 AMPC
Did you know more than 300 times in the Bible that there is some form of the command “Fear not!” As children of God, we must obey God’s Word and REFUSE TO FEAR!

These journaling prompts will help you acknowledge your feelings of worry and fear so you can turn them over to God.
