Why You Should Love Your Life

Why you should love your life blog post by certified health coach, Patti Fagan

Life will love you right back when you choose to be positive and love your life. The key to creating a life you love is found in the power of your thoughts and emotions. The Bible says to guard your heart because out of it flow the issues of life. If your life isn’t what you want it to be right now, here are five reasons you should love your life to turn things around.

Choosing to love your life makes you a better person. You’ll be more optimistic and better at handling challenging situations. Loving your life helps you build inner strength, resilience, and a sense of fulfillment.

Here are five reasons to love your life

1. You Feel More Authentic

When you start loving your life, you feel this calm flowing around you. Gone are the days of being anxious and on edge because you lived on someone else’s terms.

People who live this way enjoy more freedom and empowerment than they’ve ever felt before.
They’re doing the things that allow them to find their authentic self. Discovering what truly matters to you can be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to read a book, making a yummy pot of herbal tea, or taking a catnap.

2. You Stop Pleasing People

One thing that can quickly rid your life of happiness is trying to be a people-pleaser. Whether it’s your partner, friend, or loved one, trying to please everyone is taxing and takes its toll on our physical and mental health.

Excessive people-pleasing hinders us from being our true selves because we’re always worried about what others think about us. I’m not suggesting that you become insensitive to others. It’s all about finding the right balance. It’s all about having healthy boundaries.

3. You’re Content with the Here and Now

If you’re unhappy with your present moment, you’ll always be disappointed. I like to create moments of bliss throughout my day and week, which gives me a feeling of deep contentment.

Being content in the here and now regulates your nervous system, so you’re not in a constant state of fight or flight. Rather your body can settle into the more healthy state of ‘rest and digest.’

A couple of practices that help create content in the here and now are journal writing and making a gratitude list.

4. You Get Better At Handling Life’s Curve Balls

Many of us don’t like change. It makes us overly anxious. Yet, one of life’s constants is change. It’s an inevitable part of life as we know it. So, we must live with the fact that there will always be changes in our lives. We can accept this by embracing change and seeing it as positive.
Not all change is bad. Some of it brings exciting events into our lives and allows us to meet new people that become lifelong friends.

Of course, there will be undesirable changes. But, instead of resisting it, we can remind ourselves that “this too shall pass.” Then take it as an opportunity to learn and grow from it.

5. You Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Sometimes, it’s easy to let yourself go down the path of comparing yourself to others and not loving your life, which only leads to self-defeat. But what if, instead, you got inspired by what others are doing in their life? What if you allowed their life to be an inspiration for new possibilities for you?

You’ll look at your life in a whole new way. You’ll learn to embrace your journey, mistakes, disappointments, and all. You’ll appreciate the value of your life even if you haven’t made the progress you hoped you would by now.

This list is certainly not an exhaustive one. But hopefully, it sparked some inspiration to create a new vision for your life. You can create what you crave to be happy and love your life!
