When God Invites You to Turn the Page for Emotional Healing

You’re in the right place if God has been inviting you to turn the page for emotional healing. This blog post is a gentle opportunity to accept God’s grace to live the life you really want. I love the power of a beautiful quote like this: “turn the page” invitation:
“You’ll never know how amazing your story can end if you keep living the same chapter. Turn the page, my love. Turn the page.”
—Ellen Roberts
There’s something about that line—turn the page—that can feel both cozy and terrifying.
Because if you’re honest, you may not be “living the same chapter” because you like it… but because it feels safer than the unknown. You’ve learned how to survive here. You know what to expect here. You’ve mastered the art of functioning while carrying pain that never fully got tended.
And friend, that pain doesn’t always look dramatic on the outside.
Sometimes emotional pain looks like:
- smiling while feeling numb
- over-giving, over-functioning, and then collapsing in private
- shutting down when you want to speak up
- staying busy so you don’t have to feel
- repeating relationship patterns you swore you wouldn’t repeat (like people pleasing)
- feeling guilty for needing comfort
- loving God… but secretly wondering why you still feel stuck
Maybe what keeps you up at night isn’t just what happened back then. It’s the nagging fear that your life will always feel like this—like you’re trying to build a future while dragging a past that won’t loosen its grip.
And if you’re a woman of faith, the ache can deepen because you know God is good… yet you still feel anxious, guarded, or unworthy. You may even tell yourself I shouldn’t still be struggling with this.
Let me say this as gently and clearly as I can:
Your emotional pain is not proof that there’s something wrong with you.
Often, it’s proof that something in you is still trying to be protected.
As a trauma-informed Christian coach for women, I want you to hear this with your whole heart:
God is not disappointed in you. He is near you.
And the invitation to “turn the page” isn’t pressure—it’s compassion.

What Turning the Page Could Feel Like
Imagine waking up and feeling quieter inside.
Not a perfect life. Not a pain-free life. But one that feels safe and cozy.
Imagine you can notice a trigger without spiraling. You can feel emotion without drowning in it. You can set a boundary without guilt eating you alive. You can say, “That hurt me,” and still feel loved—by God and by the safe people He’s bringing into your life.
Imagine trusting that the hard chapters of your story don’t mean you’re flawed.
They become the very places God meets you—heals you—and strengthens you.
Turning the page might look like:
- peace that doesn’t depend on everyone else behaving
- confidence to make decisions without second-guessing yourself into exhaustion
- a softer relationship with your body—less tension, less bracing
- freedom to receive love (from God and others) without suspicion or shame
- hope that feels trustworthy
This is what healing does. It doesn’t erase your story—it redeems how it lives inside you.
And yes, your story can have an amazing ending. Not because you hustle your way to “being better,” but because God is the One who heals broken hearts and binds up wounds (Psalm 147:3).
So let’s talk about a simple path forward.
Not a complicated plan. Not a “fix yourself” project.
A gentle, faith-filled next step you can begin today.
A Simple Solution: 3 Trauma-informed Action Steps to Heal Emotional Pain
1) Name the chapter you’re stuck in—without shaming yourself for it
Before you can turn the page, you have to tell the truth about what page you’re on.
Many women stay stuck because they keep minimizing what happened or over-spiritualizing what they feel.
Here’s your first brave step: Name it.
Not with a label that condemns you. With language that feels kind.
Try sentences like:
- “A part of me still feels unsafe.”
- “A part of me learned love means I have to earn it.”
- “A part of me expects rejection, so I pull away first.”
- “A part of me is exhausted from carrying everything alone.”
In trauma-informed work, we often talk about “parts”—not because you’re broken, but because God designed your nervous system to protect you. Those protective responses (people-pleasing, perfectionism, numbing, controlling, shutting down) aren’t character flaws. They’re survival strategies.
And when you name them with compassion, something powerful happens:
Shame loses its grip.
Because you stop calling yourself “broken” or “not enough,” and you start seeing yourself as a woman who has been living in survival, fight-or-flight mode.
This is the beginning of turning the page: truth + tenderness.

2) Create a daily “sacred pause” to let your body feel safe enough to heal
You cannot think your way into emotional healing.
Your mind may love explanations—but your body needs sensations of safety.
That’s why I encourage women to practice what I call a Sacred Pause—a simple 10–15 minute routine that helps your nervous system settle so your heart can actually receive what God is saying.
Here’s how to do it:
The Sacred Pause (10–15 minutes):
- Breathe slowly (hand on heart, hand on belly if you’d like). Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6.
- Name what’s happening inside: “Lord, I notice tension in my chest, heaviness in my throat, racing thoughts…” Just notice and name whatever is true for you in this moment.
- Offer a short prayer:
- “Jesus, thank you that I belong to You.”
- “God, I’m giving you what I’ve been carrying.”
- “Lord, show me that I’m safe with You.”
- Ask one gentle question: “What do You want me to know right now?”
- Write the first kind sentence that comes—even if it’s simple:
- “You’re not alone.”
- “I’m with you.”
- “You don’t have to rush.”
This is sitting in God’s presence. It’s Psalm 46:10: Be still and know that I am God.
And over time, presence becomes a new pattern.
A new chapter.
3) Choose one “turn-the-page” decision—for emotional healing with God
Emotional healing with God rarely happens through one dramatic moment.
More often, it happens through one small decision repeated in faith.
Here are a few examples of a “turn-the-page” decision:
- making one appointment you’ve been avoiding
- saying no without a long explanation
- telling the truth about what you need
- giving yourself permission to take a break before you burnout
- forgiving yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know
- letting someone safe get a little closer
Three Journal Prompts to Help You Go Deeper in Emotional Healing with God.
Before I share a resource that can support you daily, I want to offer three prompts that can lead you into sacred, healing moments.
- What chapter of my story have I been living on repeat—and what has it cost me emotionally, spiritually, or relationally?
- What would feeling deeply loved by God look like in my real life this week (in my thoughts, boundaries, and choices)?
- If I truly believed God chose me for a purpose and isn’t ashamed of my story, what page would I be ready to turn—one baby step at a time?
