Change your thoughts change your life
Anyone who knows me pretty much knows that I am all about positive thinking. In fact, one business mentor of mine told me that I bring BLISSFULNESS into the room with me. That’s just who I am.
But that’s not who I was thirteen years ago. Back then my life was completely miserable. I felt trapped in a dysfunctional relationship (a 15-year common-law marriage), my health was in the toilet and crying myself to sleep was a common occurrence.
What changed for me?
I made a decision that if I was going to climb my way out of the pit I was in, I was going to have to do a massive upgrade in my thought-life. I needed to create faith big enough to move mountains. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
So I dove into God’s word and became saturated with His truth, which eventually changed my thought process and set me free. Hallelujah!
You see, if you think the thoughts you’ve always thought, you’ll get the results you’ve always gotten. Your outer world is a direct reflection of your inner world. If you don’t like what you see, perhaps a major upgrade in your thinking (beliefs, expectations, fears etc.) is in order.
As he thinks within himself, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)
My friends, there’s a reason God tells us to upgrade our thinking by focusing on happy thoughts. He created us and He knows that happy thoughts will cause us to thrive and flourish. That’s how He hard-wired our brains. To focus and meditate on the good stuff.
According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, author of Switch on Your Brain, negative thinking literally causes brain damage.
So my challenge to you today is to reject all negative thinking (worries, concerns, fears, judgments, guilt, shame, doubt), and choose to focus on thoughts that are beautiful and lovely. Focus on happy thoughts. Those are the kind of thoughts that empower you to grow and thrive.
Gratitude is a great way to get this started.
So, what are three things you can be grateful for today?
