Change Your Thoughts and Your Life Will Change

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I am all about taking charge of your life and positive thinking. In fact, one business mentor of mine told me I bring BLISSFULNESS into the room with me.

That’s just who I am.

But that’s not who I was sixteen years ago. Back then my life was a hot mess. I felt trapped in a toxic relationship; I struggled with my health and crying myself to sleep was a common occurrence.

What changed for me?

I made a decision that if I was going to climb my way out of the pit in which I found myself, I was going to have to do a massive upgrade in my thought-life. I went back to my faith roots. I knew I needed to create faith big enough to move mountains.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). So I dove into God’s word and became saturated with His principles. Little by little, day by day, I felt my perspective shifting. I suddenly believed in new possibilities. I didn’t know how it was going to happen, but I believed God had something better for me. I had confidence in a new life.

Today, I love my life! I no longer suffer from depression and panic attacks. I’m married to a man who treats me like a queen. I leap out of bed every morning because I’m excited about life and what God has called me to do.

My life changed because I changed myself. I changed my thoughts. I changed my habits.

You can, too!

If you think the thoughts you’ve always thought, you’ll get the results you’ve always gotten. Your circumstances are a direct reflection of your inner world, your beliefs and expectations, and your perspective on life. If you don’t like what you see, commit to an upgrade in your thinking. God gave us the power to choose how we think. We may not be able to control what happens in life. But we can control our response – our thoughts and actions.

As he thinks within himself, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7 The Passion Translation)

Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)

My friend, there’s a reason God tells us to upgrade our thinking by focusing on good thoughts. He created us and He knows that healthy thinking will cause us to thrive and flourish. That’s how He hard-wired our brains. To focus and meditate on good things.

According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, author of Switch on Your Brain, negative thinking literally causes brain damage.

So my challenge to you, today, is to reject all negative thinking (worries, concerns, fears, judgements, guilt, shame, doubt), and choose to focus on thoughts that are beautiful and lovely.

Focus on loving thoughts.

Focus on thoughts that empower you and make you feel alive.

Focus on thoughts that give you hope for something better. Because better is possible. It’s always possible.
